Space To Breathe, Sense Of Wonder
The World Spins 1,000 miles per hour, Inside We're Spinning Faster
Earth orbits Sun at 67K mi/hr,
spins at 1K mi/hr
Inside we're spinning faster, 1K+ thoughts/hour
We need space to breathe
Time for breaks
Change before it's too late
Sit back, rest, recuperate
To help us stop running mad, to ponder
The racing that has cost our sense of wonder
The Earth orbits our Sun at 30 kilometers per second.
That's 67,000 miles per hour, and it rotates too.
It spins at 1,000 miles per hour. All is still for us.
Inside we're spinning faster, at 1,000+ thoughts per hour.
Daniel Kahneman says we live in the present 3 seconds at a time. Our minds are racing, which often takes us far afield.
When focused, we can go upward and forward. We need some detours and delays first.
We need space to breathe. We must take time for breaks.
We want to change before it's too late.
We have to sit back, rest, and recuperate
Old patterns can be interrupted, and bad habits are at last broken, ends a cycle of repetitive reliving, and frees us to live in the now.
The questions include: where, why and how?
Meditation, medicine for the grind, moving away from the monkey mind
Contemplation, the long walk through random roads, to rediscover what was lost like it's new
Recreation, that sensation of play, brings us back to who we really were and could become again
Exertion, the rest between sets of weights, to break down and rebuild our bodies
Not enough time, pausing at life's stoplight,
Means we’re overdue to recover and reignite
To help us stop running mad and to ponder
The racing that has cost our sense of wonder
